Platinum® Freight Management is thrilled to announce that they are partnering with White Ribbon.
The White Ribbon Campaign is the largest global male-led movement to stop men’s violence against women. It engages and enables men and boys to lead this social change. In Australia, White Ribbon is an organisation that works to prevent violence by changing attitudes and behaviours. The prevention work is driven through social marketing, Ambassadors and initiatives with communities, schools, universities, sporting codes and workplaces.
White Ribbon is an organisation that is working to prevent the most common and pervasive form of male violence that towards women. All forms of violence are unacceptable. White Ribbon believes the prevention of violence against women will change society for the better
Violence against women is a deeply personal issue for women, but it is also very much a men’s issue because it is their wives, mothers, sisters, daughters and friends whose lives are being harmed by violence and abuse.
Violence against women is a serious problem in our society. Statistics show that one in three Australian women over the age of 15 have reported experiencing physical or sexual violence at some time in their lives.
A message from the founder of Platinum® Freight Management:
A few years ago, I was in Melbourne on a Sunday morning (there were only a couple of us on the tram).
A lady got on and sat near the driver, just before her stop, she turned to another lady close by and and said “please pray that he’s in a good mood when I get home…”
“ the other lady said “…pardon?”.
“please pray that he’s is a good mood when I get home..”
I was stunned at what I was hearing and before I could analyse the conversation the lady was off the tram and making her way home to what I imagine was a violent situation.
Ever since that day those few years ago.. I think of that situation every day and wish I was able to have reacted differently at that given time.
As a man, a son, a brother and business owner I have partnered with White Ribbon and have sworn to support their cause and to also become more prepared in how to respond to a similar situation if the need arises.
Thank you for helping me support such a worthy cause.
Peter
