The Australian Government in the recent budget announced a restructure of the import processing charge (IPC) which is payable by importers.
The current charges are:
- Parcel post $40.20
- Air freight $55.20
- Sea freight (less than a container load) $70.00
- Sea freight (full container load) $88.00
The proposed new charges to be effective 01 January 2014 will be:
- Parcel post $40.20
- Air freight $55.20 (for goods valued between $1,000 AUD and $10,000 AUD)
- Air freight $137.10 (for goods valued over $10,000 AUD)
- Sea freight $70.00 (less than a container load) (for goods valued between $1,000 AUD and $10,000 AUD)
- Sea freight $172.60 (less than a container load) (for goods valued over $10,000 AUD)
- Sea freight $88.00 (full container load) (for goods valued between $1,000 AUD and $10,000 AUD)
- Sea freight $190.60 (full container load) (for goods valued over $10,000 AUD)
